INTRODUCTION TO VEDIC MATHS

Vedic Mathematics is a system of mental calculation set out by Bharati Krishna Tirtha, who traced its 16 sutras and 13 sub-sutras to the Vedic tradition. Whatever their origin, the methods work: they make arithmetic remarkably fast and, for most students, a good deal more interesting.

Vedic Maths, the Nikhilam sutra worked on a slate: 98 x 97 = 9506

This course helps you calculate faster and smarter using the 16 Vedic sutras, techniques proven to simplify arithmetic, algebra, and more.

Perfect for school students, competitive exam aspirants, and anyone who wants to sharpen their mathematical ability.

Course Curriculum

Overview of Vedic Mathematics: where the system actually comes from, what Bharati Krishna Tirtha claimed for it, and an introduction to the 16 sutras. Understanding why Vedic Maths makes calculations faster and easier.

The Sutra of Proportionality: useful for multiplication and division. How to use proportional reasoning to simplify complex calculations.

"All from 9 and the last from 10", a powerful technique for multiplication of numbers near a base (10, 100, 1000 etc.).

The general formula for multiplication applicable to all cases. Multiply any two multi-digit numbers using the vertical and crosswise method.

Useful in division, particularly when the divisor is slightly greater than a power of 10. Learn to transpose and apply for rapid division.

"When the sum is the same that sum is zero", applied to solving certain types of equations quickly and elegantly.

"If one is in ratio the other is zero", for solving simultaneous equations efficiently.

"By addition and by subtraction", for solving equations using addition and subtraction rather than complex manipulation.

An overview and application of the remaining sutras: Puranapuranabhyam, Chalana-Kalanabhyam, Yavadunam, Vyashtisamanstih, Shesanyankena Charamena, Sopaantyadvayamantyam, Ekanyunena Purvena, Gunitasamuchyah, and Gunakasamuchyah.

Advanced speed multiplication techniques for 2-digit × 2-digit, 3-digit × 3-digit, squaring numbers, and multiplying near bases.

Rapid division techniques and squaring of numbers using Vedic sutras. Mental squaring of 2 and 3 digit numbers.

Applying Vedic Maths techniques to competitive exam problems. Time-saving shortcuts for SSC, IBPS, CAT, JEE and other competitive exams.

How progress is measured

Small batches mean every student's work is actually seen. Nothing here is automated. Ms. Parikh marks it herself.

What How often What it checks
Timed speed drill Every class Speed and accuracy under pressure
Homework set Twice weekly Retention and practice
Module test End of each module (5 in all) Application of that module's sutras
Mixed-method test Weeks 7 and 11 Choosing the right sutra, the real skill
Final timed assessment Week 12 Speed against a target, across every method
Written report End of course Speed improvement measured against the week-1 baseline

A baseline speed test is taken in week 1, so improvement is measured rather than asserted.

Frequently asked questions

The Introduction to Vedic Maths course is suitable for students from Class 5 (age 10+) onwards, including adults, working professionals, and competitive exam aspirants of any age.

No prior knowledge of Vedic Maths is needed. The course starts from scratch and progressively covers all 16 Vedic sutras with practice exercises at each stage.

The course is 24 hours long, spread over 3 months with 2 hours of live online class per week with expert tutor Ms. Ishita Parikh.

Vedic Maths techniques enable you to solve arithmetic, algebra, and calculation problems significantly faster using mental shortcuts, giving you a decisive speed advantage in exams like SSC, IBPS, CAT, JEE, UPSC, GRE, and GMAT.

Vedic Maths and Abacus serve different purposes. Vedic Maths is particularly beneficial for older students (Class 5 and above) as it applies mental techniques to arithmetic, algebra, and higher-level mathematics, going well beyond basic number operations covered by Abacus.
